The Alliance for Girls Circles Initiative

At the annual Members Meeting in January 2017, Alliance for Girls (AFG) announced the launch of the Circles Initiative! The Initiative convenes small cohorts/circles of members and young women who are invested in supporting girls and young women, to explore, connect and discover.

Goals of the Initiative are:

  • To foster deeper connections among Alliance members
  • To foster intergenerational connection and learning
  • To encourage collaboration among girls’ organizations
  • To support connected and sustainable leadership of girls’ organizations in the Bay Area
  • To strengthen Bay Area regions as healthy and vibrant places for girls and young women

Circles convene for a 2-3 hour meeting once a month for 6 months, to address a particular topic/area of focus, working toward a project goal defined by cohort leaders and their cohort members.

Alliance members interested in leading a circle had the opportunity to submit their topics and proposals in early 2017. These are the final circles that launched this fall:

At the end of the initiative, each circle will present on their project and share their learnings with the broader Alliance for Girls membership.
