Redwood Adventure Coast Camp
June 16 - June 22
Redwood Adventure Coast is for girls and gender non-conforming youth entering 6th and 7th grade. Participants spend 7 days and 6 nights camping and hiking at Butano State Park Park and kayak on Half Moon Bay. All gear, food, and transportation is provided and no prior experience is necessary. Courses begin between 8-9 am on the first day and end between 4 -6 pm on the last day.
Students explore concepts such as trust, social justice, identity, and leadership through activities designed for their age group. Kayaking provides the format and structure through which young people can develop the physical, emotional, and social tools that help them be successful on this course and also with their families, schools and other groups.
While camping in the Redwoods the youth will learn to live with each other, creating their ideal community norms. They will sleep in 3-4 person tents each night, and take turns cooking nutritious meals for each other. All this while learning the importance of Leave No Trace Ethics, and the connection between the natural world and people.
