Centering Girls' Leadership

The Young Women’s Leadership Board (YWLB) convenes girls and gender-expansive youth ages 16-20 in California and of diverse backgrounds to inform the work of Alliance for Girls and to increase board diversity by training and developing them as non-profit board members.

The YWLB plays an important role in driving and defining the work of AFG, including advising and directing AFG’s programs, research and advocacy.

We're Recruiting Youth Leaders!

Do you identify as or know a girl* between the ages of 16-20 living in California who's interested in a paid opportunity and committed to being a leader in your community? If so, Alliance for Girls (AFG) is looking for leaders like you to join its Young Women's Leadership Board!

The YWLB plays an important role in driving and defining the work of AFG. This includes telling us how to advance our work as well as leading AFG research, town halls, and other advocacy efforts. If you have not done research, advocacy, or served on a board, no problem! We provide training. Currently, the YWLB is leading a research and advocacy initiative on COVID-19's impact on girls and gender-expansive youth up to age 24 in California.

The program runs from August 2020-June 2021. Each week, we meet for 1.5 hours and engage in 1.5 hours of action-oriented work.

To apply, please complete this brief YWLB application. The deadline to apply is August 4, 11:59 pm PT. If you qualify, we will notify you about next steps.
