We are catalyzing collective action to build a better future for girls and gender-expansive youth*

Girls, and gender-expansive youth, especially those of color, face a plethora of compounding obstacles including high rates of sexual violence at school and public spaces, gender and racial discrimination and stigma, and high levels of stress and anxiety.

Alliance for Girls and its members are addressing these issues and many more that stand in the way for so many girls and gender-expansive youth. Working together, we are weaving solutions into a beautiful tapestry of opportunity, tight enough to lift girls up and bright enough to inspire a new generation of leaders, caring mothers, inspiring artists, and groundbreaking scientists.

Alliance for Girls members are shifting the paradigm

WE BELIEVE

that girls and gender-expansive youth have the right to

And yet, girls and gender-expansive youth in California and across the US, especially Black and Brown girls and gender-expansive youth, do not have these basic human rights.

WE ARE

a strong, connected network

of 120+ organizations and 60+ girls’ champions who are meeting the needs of 300,000+ girls and gender-expansive youth and eliminating systemic barriers to their success.

Our impact is centered on uplifting girls’ and gender-expansive youth’s voices through youth-led research, supporting the leaders of organizations that serve girls and gender-expansive youth, and facilitating girl-centered policy and budget advocacy.

Together, these strategies identify the root causes of the problems facing girls and allow us to co-create new systems we need for girls to not only survive, but thrive.

RESEARCH AND STORYTELLING

We are one of the few organizations conducting research focused on girls and led by girls, especially girls of color, to help uplift data on their experiences and the stories they want to see about themselves.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

Informed by our research, we create platforms where girls and the organizations and leaders that serve them can share best practices on how to best support girls, collaborate with one another, and participate in key conversations happening in the gender equity sector.

ADVOCACY

Our leaders come together to implement collective advocacy in order to change the systems that are creating barriers for girls

OUR IMPACT

IS INTERCONNECTED

It touches every area of a girl’s life - from combating gender-based violence on public transportation to advocating for racial and gender justice in schools.

We are actively breaking down silos and working across all sectors - no one piece can effect change on its own.
